Glass making started more than 5,000 years ago, but it wasn’t used for windows and doors until 3,000 years later when the Romans developed clear glass. Full lite doors are a sheet of glass surrounded by metal or wood frame. They are designed to allow maximum light into the home.
They are often paired with side lites and a transom to create larger openings. They can provide very clean lines or be used as a canvas for millwork, scrollwork, and traditional divided lites. Textured glass is often used to add privacy.
